Louis Rogers Tyler, 87, passed away peacefully in on April 21, 2013 in Loveland, Colorado. He was born on November 16, 1925 in Philadelphia, PA to William and Madeleine Tyler.

Louis grew up in Drexel Hill, PA. He graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1943. After high school he attended Notre Dame University for one year then transferred to Cornell University in Ithaca, NY where he received a Bachelors in Civil Engineering degree in 1947. He attended college as part of the US Marine Corps V-12 program. After graduation he was hired by Aramco and worked for them in Saudi Arabia as an engineer for 17 years, whereupon he returned to the U.S. with his family and resided in Boulder, Colorado. After all his children had left home, he returned to work for Saudi Aramco in Saudi Arabia for another 7 1/2 years and then he retired to the mountains he loved living in the Winter Park/Fraser area.

Lou married Nona Henderson in 1949 in Beruit, Lebanon. They were happily married for 63 years. He enjoyed hiking, skiing, sailing, and stamp collecting.

Lou was an active member of the High Rockies Hikers and did Continental Divide Trail maintenance. He was a 20-year member of the Rocky Mountain Ski Race Officials and officiated numerous ski races, with his biggest event being the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics.

Lou is survived by his wife Nona; his children Ross, Bruce, Gail, Wayne and Jill, as well as 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Church of the Eternal Hills in Tabernash, CO at 3:00pm on July 20, 2013.
