Leland Earl Carson (Lee)
Leland Earl Carson (Lee), 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 19, 2015, in Houston, Texas. Lee was born in Wray, Colorado on February 22, 1927, the son of the late Clifford Clyde Carson and Mary Marjorine Carson.
He graduated from the University of Denver with a Bachelors of Science degree in Environmental Health, and went on to earn a Masters degree from the University of California at Berkeley. Lee served in public health and preventative medicine positions in the U.S. Army and worked for county and state health agencies in the United States. In 1966, Lee moved to Saudi Arabia where he was employed by Aramco until his retirement in 1987.
He was preceded in death by his devoted first wife, Shirley Fix Carson, his sister Mildred, and three brothers, Jack, Paul and Clyde.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lurline Hancock Carson; his brother, Gary Houser Carson (Linda); his twin daughters, Merrie Leigh Carson and Grace Carson Csaszar and husband, Norbert; his granddaughters, Sonya, Audrey and Karolyn Csaszar; his step-daughters, Leslie Rich, Lisa Vogel (Robert), Julie Pou (George), and their children, Callie Chakalis (Blake), Griffin Rich, Danielle Simmons (Joe), Brittany and Katherine Vogel, Nigel Ward, Vincent, Joseph, Olivia and Blair Lovoi, Blake Pou, and his great-grandchildren, Hallie and William Simmons, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Lee is remembered for his love of family and friends, and his adventurous spirit having traveled the world. He was a man of great character whom we could always count on. He will be dearly missed by all of us.
The family would like to especially thank Janice Ferguson, whom we all grew to love as she so lovingly cared for Lee during his final days. We also would like to thank the wonderful staff at Autumn Years Overbrook for their kindness in lovingly caring for Lee, along with New Century Hospice.
