Kees (Case) Trossel
Cornelis Johannes (Kees, pronounced "Case") Trossel passed away on December 15, 2012 in Wassenaar, The Netherlands. He was born in Teteringen, The Netherlands on October 20, 1922.
Kees was one of the first Dutch engineers to arrive in Saudi Arabia, having been hired by the Arabian American Oil Company(ARAMCO) His first assignment was in District Engineering in Abqaiq. There he established a reputation as an expert in road building and sand control. Many years later project managers would argue over who would get Kees assigned to his team if the work included extensive road building.
Shortly after his arrival in 1952, he was joined by his wife, Ellie, and his newborn twin girls, Zita and Inge. In 1954, the family added son, Robert who was born in the Dhahran Hospital. Oddly enough, many years later, he completed a medical internship at the same hospital.
In 1960, Kees was assigned to Aramco Overseas Company (A.O.C.) in the Hague and the family returned to Holland. As a project engineer, he returned to Saudi Arabia many times to lend his expertise to a number of projects. It was during this period that the family was completed with the arrival of daughter, Sabine.
In 1980, Kees was assigned back to ARAMCO in Saudi Arabia. He and Ellie enjoyed connecting with old friends again. For a two year period he was assigned to oversee engineering by a contractor in the Boston area. He retired in 1985 and moved to Spain for a period.
He is survived by his wife, Ellie of Wassenaar, The Netherlands; one son, Dr. Robert Trossel (wife, Wendy) of The United Kingdom; three daughters, Zita Cornelissen (husband, Lodewijk) of Breukelen, The Netherlands; Inge van Stigt (husband (Cees) of The Hague, The Netherlands and Sabine van der Graaf (husband, Simon) of Wassenaar, The Netherlands.
