Kaethe Brose Rodarty Passes Away
Kaethe Rodarty, 86, of Ventura, died Monday, March 10, 2008 following an unexpected illness. Mrs. Rodarty was born June 10, 1921, in Bentheim, Germany to Oskar and Fredia (Riefenstahl) Brose. She had two sisters: Hanna Brose (deceased) and Ellen Walther widowed Lengies born Brose of Bentheim, Germany.

Kaethe graduated from secondary school in Germany and worked as an interpreter. She left Germany in 1949 to work in England and met her future husband while on a boat crossing the English Channel. After corresponding for one year, they were married on Baharain Island in the Persian Gulf on April 7, 1950. She lived overseas for 21 years in Saudi Arabia and Libya returning to make her home in Ventura, Calif. with her family in 1973. She loved traveling, history, the theater and arts, music and being with her family and friends. She was an avid support of the desert bred Saluki hound of Saudi Arabia, and was actively involved in establishing the recognition and registration of the breed in the United States. She loved her Salukis and raised many in her home over the years. She was a supporter of wildlife and endangered species. Kaethe was a strong believer in women's rights and was an independent thinking woman, with a generous and kind heart.
She enjoyed spending time with her blue & gold winged Macaw, Pretty Baby, and was an advocate for all animals. She enjoyed having a daily afternoon teatime with her family and friends. She adored her husband Carl and was devoted to her family.
She was an officer in the Saluki club of America, a long standing member of the Ventura Rhineland Club, Inc. a member of the Ondulando Hilltoppers Association in Ventura. She greatly enjoyed playing Pinochle with her group of friends in Ondulando.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Carl M. Rodarty of Ventura; Daughter and son-in-law, Laurie Ellen and Tim Ehrich; and granddaughter, Isabel Ehrich all of Corydon, Iowa. Nephew Fritz Lengies of Niderenhausen, Germany; Family of Matthias Walther of Muenster, Germany; Sheila & Jennifer Ehrich, Plattsburg, MO; Rebecca Ehrich & Robert Kemper of Gladstone, MO; Family of Dan Ehrich of Belgium; special recognition to her dear friend of 52 years Mrs. Sigrid Parmenter of Ventura, CA, a friendship that goes back to their years while residing in Saudi Arabia.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bruce C. Rodarty, in 2007.
