Joseph David Fowler II
Joseph David Fowler II, 74, of Portland, Ore., formerly of Soddy-Daisy, passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 29, 2014. He was born in Louisville, Ky., on Oct. 1, 1940, to Joseph David Fowler Sr. and Ida Regina Schuster Fowler. He graduated from St. Xavier High School and received a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Detroit. He was married to Karol J. Blum on Nov. 24, 1960, and was married for 48 years until her passing in 2009. Together they had five children. Joe had an exciting career including being on the launch team for several Saturn moon missions, including Apollo 11, and working in Saudi Arabia for Aramco Oil Co. for over 20 years. He traveled extensively, made great friends, and had a passion for University of Kentucky basketball that could not be easily outdone. He is survived by three children, Resa Bradeen MD, of Portland, Ore., Mary Ruth Mosley, of Hixson, and Joseph David Fowler III, of Banks, Ore. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral Masses will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Milwaukie, Ore., at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, and at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Soddy-Daisy, at noon Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015.
