John Leo Soileau, Jr.
John Leo Soileau, Jr. was born on July 6, 1943 in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana and died on November 17, 2022 in Temple, Texas following a period of ill health.
Leo is survived by his wife, Fiona, daughter Rebecca Robinson, her husband Michael and children Olivia and Cecily, and daughter Nina Matthews and her husband Russel. He is also survived by sister, Anita Cioni, niece, Jamie Turner and her husband Jerry, great-niece Caitlin Turner, great-niece Hayley Constantine, her husband Gene, and son Hudson, sister-in-law Joy Roscoe and her son Edmund Pearson, sister-in-law Stella Roscoe (Fiona’s late brother, Gordon’s, wife), their son Andrew, his wife Anna, and their children Holly and Emma. He will be missed by his friends and classmates from his school and college days in Louisiana, dear friends and neighbors, John and Alvi Alford, and his best buds at Angel’s.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Doris Soileau and many family members on both sides.
Leo graduated from Opelousas High School and The University of Southwestern Louisiana with a Bachelor of Science. Through his career, Leo worked at Freeport Sulphor, Saudi Aramco, and the IRS making life-long friends along the way.
Leo was always active in his girls’ educational and sporting lives. He literally never missed a ball game or track meet, no matter where they were held, running various concession stands and substituting in their Lake Travis classrooms throughout their school years. He enjoyed all the travel that working at Aramco enabled him to do, darts, fishing, reading, crossword puzzles, crawfish, football, cold beer and telling stories.
He was cremated according to his wishes and a Celebration of Life will be scheduled for the end of December.
