John Joseph O'Leary
John Joseph O'Leary passed away at 3:12 a.m. Wednesday June 23, 1948 after a brief illness. He apparently was well the evening before having attended a motion picture and retired early. He awakened after midnight and was admitted to the Ras Tanura Hospital at 1:40 a.m.
John O'Leary arrived in Saudi Arabia on December 13, 1947, and was assigned to the Arab Personnel Section of the Personnel Department. During his short time here he made many friends because of his even disposition and his close friends were shocked at his sudden passing. The cause was heart failure.
Surviving is his wife Mrs. Olga M. O'Leary who resides at 134 E. 82nd Place, Los Angeles, California. John was born in Ireland on December 28, 1901.
Funeral Services were held in Dhahran on Thursday June 24 at 1 p.m. with Lt. Howard E. Munson officiating; interment was in the Dhahran Christian Cemetery.
John O'Leary was a veteran of World War I - in 1917 he enlisted for 3 years and following honorable discharge he enlisted for an additional three years. His past employment was with McNeil Construction of San Diego, California; with the United States Employment Service; and for 10 years he was employed with the E. E. Heathcock Clinics, Los Angeles, California. He was deeply interested in medicine having studied at accredited schools for a time.
