Jim Michael Yazbek
Jim Michael Yazbek, 73, of Gainesville, VA, died October 1, 2011, with family by his side.
Mr. Yazbek, a loving father and devoted husband, was born October 15, 1937, in Kaftoun, Lebanon, the seventh child of Michel and Mariana Yazbek.
He began studying nursing in the early 1960s. He continued his education with a merit scholarship arriving in the U.S. and graduating with a nursing degree in Ohio. In the late 1970s he graduated with another college degree in Electronic Engineering. He worked for 22 years at various divisions of Schneider Electric in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Prior, he served as a surgical nurse for nearly two decades in the United States, Beirut, Lebanon, and on overseas U.S. bases for ARAMCO. Throughout his life he was a devout gardener and world traveler.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Faith Yazbek; son, Michael Yazbek and his wife Gail Yazbek; four brothers, one sister, as well as many cousins, nephews, and nieces.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 6th, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, VA. The funeral liturgy will be offered on Friday, October 7th, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in the Saints Peter and Paul Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, 10620 River Road Potomac, MD 20854. A second visitation will be held on Monday, October 10th, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, NH. Burial services will be held on Tuesday, October 11th, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery in Londonderry, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, where he served during its inaugural opening.
