Jennie D. Malacynski, 82, formerly of Ballston Avenue, Saratoga Springs, died Tuesday morning January 26, 2016 at Wesley Health Care Center. She was born in Broadalbin on January 5, 1934 a daughter of Peter and Tessie Carolik Malacynski and was a 1951 graduate of Broadalbin Central High School. Jennie worked for General Electric Company in Schenectady before moving to Manhattan in 1956. She was employed there by the Arabian American Oil Company (ARAMCO) and later at Newmont Mining Company. Thereafter, Jennie was an executive secretary for fifteen years for Dillon, Read & Co. Inc., an investment banking firm, on Wall Street. Her last position was secretary to the president of The Spunk Fund, a not-for-profit private foundation for the benefit of children. Upon retirement in 1990, she moved to Saratoga Springs. While living in New York City, she attended the evening division of the Wood Secretarial School and also Hunter College. At Hunter, she studied Art History and Appreciation as well as English Literature. She enjoyed reading, New York City museums, the ballet, opera, and foreign films. Jennie was a communicant of St. Peter's Church in Saratoga Springs. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph, Stanley, Charles, and Martin Malacynski; and her sisters, Pauline Ciupryk and Mary Quillan. Survivors include four nieces, four nephews, and several great- and great-great nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 am at St. Joseph's Church, 7 North Street, Broadalbin with Rev. Jim Davis, officiating. Final burial will be in the spring at St. Basil's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. Johnstown.
