Jeffrey Kim Niemann
Jacksonville - Jeffrey Kim Niemann, 75, of Jacksonville, passed away on Friday August 18, 2023 at The Grove in Jacksonville surrounded by his loved ones. Jeff was born October 17, 1947 in Gary, Indiana the son of Herman Henry Carol and Inez (Talkemeyer) Niemann. He grew up with his older brother, Eric. As he got older, he attended Valparaiso University to study biology and chemistry. This sparked his passion for industrial hygiene which became his postgraduate focus at the University of Cincinnati. Jeff met his beloved wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (Nevin) Niemann through his father who carpooled to Sinclair Refinery with Betty's father. They fell in love and were married on August 31,1974 in Hammond, IN. Following their wedding, Jeff went to work at Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood, WV. Two years later, he took a job for OSHA in Charleston WV. In 1978 Jeff asked Betty to follow him halfway across the world to work for Aramco in Saudi Arabia. There, they started a family (Elizabeth "Beth" Rigor and Sarah Bingaman). Being a fun, loving, and dependable father was of the utmost importance to Jeff and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family. In 1984, Jeff and family moved back to the USA where Jeff took a job for the IEPA. Another opportunity to move halfway across the world came in 1992. Jeff moved his family to Bahrain where he worked for BAPCO through CALTEX, now Chevron. He is remembered for being one of the best instructors of Industrial Hygiene at BAPCO by numerous co-workers.
Jeff was a Certified Industrial Hygienist and member of both the American Industrial Hygiene Association and the American Conference of Government Industrial Hygienists. While living in Bahrain, he was on the board of the Awali Rifle Club.
Jeff is survived by his wife Betty, daughters Beth and Sarah (Luke Bingaman), and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Herman Henry Carol Niemann & Inez Niemann as well as his brother Eric Niemann.
A graveside service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at St. Peter's Cemetery near Arenzville. The family will meet friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Memorials are suggested to Tunnels to Towers.
