Hector Julio Bayona, 78, of Bloomington, Illinois. Passed away on Tuesday (March 17, 2015) at his home.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Cremation rites will be accorded.

Hector was born on June 8, 1936, in Convencion, Norte de Santander, Colombia, the son of Antonia Jose and Carmen Ovallos Bayona. He married Clara Jimenez on April 16, 1964 in Colombia.

Hector is survived by his loving wife Clara Bayona, his daughters; Claudia (Todd) Hovenden of Bloomington and Ivonne (Mike) Skrbich of Houston, Texas, grandchildren; Max and Gabriella Hovenden, Isabella and Nicolas Skrbich and his three grand puppies Jake, Lucy and Zoe. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters; Lillian Bayona, Eddy Bayona, Antonio Bayona, Fernando Bayona, Nancy Bayona - Parra, Consuelo Bayona - Gonzalez, Gustavo Bayona and Oscar Bayona.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Roberto Bayona and his sister Carmelina Montoya.

Hector worked as a Petroleum Engineer. He worked with Ecopetrol in Colombia till 1981, Aramco, Saudi Arabia to 1995, Bridas Corp, Argentina & Turkmenistan from 1995 till 1997 when he retired. He later did consulting work for QRI Group from 2010-2012.

He enjoyed photography, taking pictures of his family and of nature, and traveling. Hector enjoyed life and loved spending time time with his family whom he loved very much. He truly will be missed greatly by all of them.
