Gloria Welsh Wrase Passes Away
Gloria Welsh Wrase, age 75, of Austin, TX, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2003. She was born on February 1, 1928, to Mark Anthony Welsh, Sr., and Elisa Eckard Welsh in Houston, TX. She grew up in Corpus Christi, TX, and was a member of St. Patrick's Parish. She graduated from Incarnate Word Academy, and Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, and attended Texas University, Austin, TX.
Gloria was employed with Braniff International airways in Corpus Christi for nine years, and then worked for Arabian American Oil Company (ARAMCO) in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, where she met her future husband, Robert H. Wrase, Jr., of San Antonio, TX. They were married on May 21, 1960 in Rome, Italy, and returned to Texas, residing in El Paso and Corpus Christi. In November, 1962, Robert joined ARAMCO, and they returned to Saudi Arabia, where they both worked until Robert's retirement in 1984.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Nan Welsh, R.N., her father, Mark Anthony Welsh, Sr., her mother, Elisa Eckard Welsh, and brother-in-law Alphonse Wrase. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert H. Wrase, Jr.; brother, Col. Mark A. Welsh Jr., USAF (Ret.) and his wife, Peg Welsh, of Austin, TX; sister-in-law, Josie Wrase; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
SERVICES Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at 6:00 P.M. in Mission Park Funeral Chapels South, 1700 S.E. Military Dr. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 7:30 P.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 23, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Name Catholic Church, 3814 Nash Blvd., at Fairlawn. Interment will follow in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity. Arrangements with Mission Park Funeral Chapels South.
