Gary A. Grandusky, 70, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at South Miami Hospital in Miami, Florida. A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 14, at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn South Funeral Home. He was born June 17, 1945 in Olean, New York to James F. and M. Kathryn (Cleaver) Grandusky. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years Adela; son Nicolas; daughter Veronica; five brothers, nine sisters: and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers John C. and Robert J. Grandusky.

Gary was a 1963 graduate of Allegany Central High School and a 1967 graduate of St. Bonaventure University with a degree in Biology.

After college, Mr. Grandusky joined the Peace Corps. He served in Ghana, Africa, from 1967-69, and Nepal in 1973, as a math/science teacher. Upon his return, he completed a Master's degree at Columbia University in N.Y.C. He continued to work overseas teaching English in Iran and traveled extensively before returning to the United States in 1979. Gary then went on to work in Saudi Arabia for the Arabian American Oil Company (ARAMCO) from 1982 to 1986. He lived and worked in San Francisco, California, and in Mississippi.

Mr. Grandusky retired from Turkey Point Nuclear Plant in 2010. He lived his life to the fullest through his family, work, travel, friends, and especially time with his children. He enjoyed attending Grandusky family reunions in his home town of Allegany, New York, where he would tell stories around a nightly bonfire about the adventures of growing up in a large family. Gary's special interests included family genealogy, music, art, photography, and traveling. In 2014, he and his wife walked the Camino Way of St. James, in Spain. Gary was a true Renaissance Man; admired by everyone who knew him.
