Frederick Gene Tate
Frederick (Fred) Gene Tate, 92, of Oliver Springs, Tennessee passed away peacefully at home on his farm, where he was happiest, on November 18, 2024. He was born on September 16, 1932 in Madison County, TN. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ella Sue Tate; parents Novera Pearson Dyer and Willie Asbury Tate; his sisters Nora Sealback, Katherine Braden, Polly Varnadore, Irene Moss, Lucille Parmenter, and Polly Bridges; his brothers William Tate, W.C. Dyer and Bill Dyer.
Fred is survived by his daughters Janet Tate Atallah (Wadie) of West Palm Beach, FL and Julie McCullough of Oliver Springs, TN; Grandchildren Nicole Parrott Liner (Justin) of Calhoun, TN and Bela (Maggie) Parrott of Oak Ridge, TN; great-granddaughter, Shelby Liner, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Fred loved his country and served in the Air Force during the Korean War as a Radio Mechanic. From 1966 to 1973, Fred and his family lived in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia and worked for ARAMCO. During his tenure there, he provided telecommunications for the camp. Upon returning to the states, he started his own telecommunication business in which he worked until retirement.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 22 nd from 10:00 am- Noon at Weatherford Mortuary,158 S Jefferson Circle, Oak Ridge, TN. A memorial service will follow at Noon with Pastor Kirk Wallace officiating. The burial will be at 1:30 pm at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in the Garden of Valor.
