Fred Larry Sigmon
Fred Larry Sigmon died peacefully in his home in Weddington, NC, on May 3, 2013.
Fred was born in Lincolnton, NC, on July 29, 1937, son of James Blaine Sigmon and Martha Knight Sigmon. He graduated from Brevard Junior College, High Point College, and N.Y.U. and eventually moved to Saudi Arabia. It was there that he met his wife, Becky, had two sons, and traveled the world.
He later moved to Texas, and from there he traveled much of the U.S. with his family. He then moved back to North Carolina, settling in Charlotte, where he took an active role at Christ Lutheran Church and watched his sons become adults.
Fred loved, among many things, spending time with his sons, growing and talking about growing tomatoes and making sly jokes.
Fred was predeceased by his parents, his brother Wylie, and his sister Frances Lingerfelt. He is survived by his wife Becky, son Scott and daughter-in-law Amanda and granddaughter Jade, son Mark and daughter-in-law Allison, his brother Steve, and his sister Betsy Morrison.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 6 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the church, Habitat for Humanity, or Hospice of Union County.
The family extends its sincere appreciation to Hospice of Union County and especially nurse Paula Knight. Fred was loved.
