CONWAY, NC — Fred Gary Ricks, Jr. was born at Creeksville, Northampton County, NC on 27 Apr 1938 to Fred Gary Ricks, Sr. and Dorothy Harriet Martin Ricks and passed away on Thursday, 29 Aug 2024 at the Pine Forest Rest Home in Potecasi, NC at the age of 86.

Fred attended school at Conway and graduated with the class of 1956. He attended what is now North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC and received a BS degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1961. After graduation, he worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority in Knoxville, TN, Union Camp Corporation in Franklin, VA, Rust Engineering Company in Calhoun, TN, and the Arabian American Oil Company (ARAMCO) in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. In 1980, he became a Process Control Consultant and worked on numerous projects in the industrial arena, most noteworthy, a natural gas compression plant and pipeline project in Saudi Arabia, a paper machine and energy management system for Georgia Pacific Corporation in Ashdown, AR, a paper boiler for New Zealand Forest Products in Tokoroa, NZ and numerous smaller projects. In 1992 he moved back to his childhood home in Creeksville, NC and was actively involved in computer repair, genealogy, and graphics design. In his spare time, Fred enjoyed playing Golf, computer science, and photography. Fred was a devoted father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Along with his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his son, Fred Gary Ricks, III.

Fred is survived by his daughter, Dorothy Dawn "Dee Dee" Ricks of Dorado, Puerto Rico; his five grandchildren; John Alexander Jaenisch, Jordan August Jaenisch, Dalton Louis Ricks, Taylor Martin Ricks, and Catherine Dee Ricks; a great-granddaughter, Scottlynn Reign Herrig; and daughter-in-law, Mary Catherine Ricks.

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 12 noon at the Zion Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Creeksville Baptist Church Cemetery.
