Fred A. Hilton, son of Edgar and Lena Hilton of Oceanside, passed away peacefully at home in Carlsbad on January 29, 2014, surrounded by family. He leaves his wife of 26 years, Diane Cochran Hilton, children, Jamie and Brooks Laudin of Walnut Creek, CA, John and Ginny Hilton of Darien, CT, Randa and Kevin Carr of Simsbury, CT and Jackie Meacham of Southington, CT, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren, sisters Lenora Walker and Sybil Hilton, one niece and one nephew.  Fred was predeceased in 1984 by his wife of 34 years, Patricia C. Hilton. Throughout the past 26 years Fred has embraced Larry and Francis Cochran of Carlsbad, CA, Cathy and David Cochran of Austin, TX, five more grandchildren and five more great grandchildren as his family.

Born in 1919 in Denver, CO, Fred moved to Oceanside, CA in 1930 with his family.  He graduated from Oceanside High School in 1936 and the University of California - Berkeley as a petroleum engineer in 1941.  After retiring from a career in the oil industry that took him to Saudi Arabia, New York and Paris, Fred worked as an investment advisor in Greenwich, CT.  He returned to Carlsbad, CA in 1985 where he met Diane.  Together, they travelled the world, enjoyed life to the fullest while participating in numerous social functions and supporting the community around them.  In 2010, he was inducted into the Oceanside High School Hall of Fame for numerous business accomplishments.

A memorial service was held on January 31, 2014 at 1:30 pm at St. Michael's by-the-Sea in Carlsbad, CA.
