Frank L. Baumgartner, Jr.
Frank L. Baumgartner, Jr., superintendent, Communications Division, Dhahran District, died in Beirut on Tuesday, Feb. 6. Memorial services were held at the Dhahran Theater on Feb. 10.
Mr. Baumgartner was born in San Jose, Calif., and took his early schooling there. He attended San Jose State College and Stanford University. In 1943 he joined the Army Air Force and served as both communications officer and radar officer. At the time of his discharge in 1946 he held the rank of captain.
Mr. Baumgartner joined Aramco in the New York Office on September 27, 1948. He arrived in Dhahran on July 4, 1951, to take up the duties of assistant superintendent, Communications Division, and the following year was named superintendent. Through the years he has held many relief and acting assignments, among them an acting assignment as district chief engineer in 1963.
Mr. Baumgartner is survived by his widow, the former Mary Japka, and by his daughter, Ann, a student at the Dhahran School, and his son Frank L. Baumgartner, III, a student at Stanford University.
Services will be held tomorrow, Feb. 15, in San Jose, Calif. The family may be contacted through Mr. Baumgartner's sister, Mrs. W.H. Helbush, 1798 Santa Barbara Dr., San Jose, Calif.
