Former Chief of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Steen Passes Away
It is with deep sadness that the family of Dr. William M. Steen announces his passing on March 11, 2006. Born January 16, 1922 he was raised in Lincoln, Nebraska spending most summers in the Black Hills of South Dakota. In 1945 he married Patricia Frazier beginning a union spanning 57 years and producing four children.
With his family complete, Bill returned to school to become a physician. He practiced medicine in Smith Center, Kansas, Willcox, Arizona, and Tucson, Arizona before beginning the adverture of his life in Saudi Arabia.
There he became Chief of Emergency Medicine for the ARAMCO hospitals. This affored him the opportunity to travel the world with his wife and family.
After retiring to Tucson, he and his wife Pat volunteered in Romania. They helped organize emergency services and arranged for donations of much needed medical equipment.
He joins his wife, Patricia, and sister, Mary Louise. He is survived by his children and their families, Bob and Richard Stern, Vicki Hopper, and Debbie Crane. He is also survied by grandchildren, Ethan, Seth, Erin, Hillary, Adam, Miriam, Drew, Jessica, Brent, and Shelby.
No public services are planned. Donations in Bill's name may be sent to Hospice of Larimer County, or Good Samaritan Village of Ft. Collins, CO.
