Etta Teague Sutton
Etta Teague Sutton, 88, formerly of Oak Ridge, passed away peacefully on Jul. 31, 2015 in Concord, NC surrounded by her children, Jodie and Leslie.
Etta enjoyed a full life. She has won beauty competitions, traveled much of the world, was a champion bowler, sorority member, and lived in the Middle East for 18 years. Within the past year, Etta was photographed in the beauty shop at Taylor Glen Health Care. That photo was published in National Geographic for the world to see. She was known and loved by those who knew her. She was a "people person" and was always looking to help others. She attended Central Baptist Church of Oak Ridge since the 1950s and was in many other organizations overseas.
Etta was preceded in death by her husband Joe Rogers Sutton, her parents, H.J. and Emma Teague, her sister Carolyn Teague, her brother Bill Teague, her son William Lynn Sutton, her brother-in-law Harold Sutton and his wife Joan, and her nephew Gary Dailey.
Survivors include her daughter Jodie Castellani, her husband Marc, and their children Jordan and Michael of Concord, NC; her son Leslie and wife Nellaine of Knoxville and his son Ryan Sutton and wife Sheri of Knoxville.
Other survivors include sister-in-law, Betty Teague, Bill and Jennifer Teague; Tim and Karen Teague all of Greeneville, Stephanie Johnson of Asheville, Rick and Monica Dailey of Knoxville; Clay and Sharon Sutton, Jeff Sutton, Lorie and Russ Linton, Mike and Jodi Sutton, all of Pennsylvania; and Jackie and Joe Dailey of Knoxville. She has a large extended family beyond these names and loved them all.
A service to celebrate Etta's life will be held at Weatherford Mortuary on Monday, August 3, 2015 at 12 noon in Oak Ridge, TN with Pastor Luke Dailey officiating. The family will receive friends after the service until 2:30pm. Family and friends will meet at Oak Ridge Memorial Park for a graveside service at 3pm.
