Estelle Joan Prugh
Estelle Joan (Petkus) Prugh Born in Chicago, IL on May 14, 1917 to Vincent and Stella Petkus, Estelle loved to travel. After graduating from Chicago's Kelly High School in 1935. She worked for Spiegel's in Chicago for several years, then chose to explore New Orleans and Los Angeles. Her love for adventure took her to Saudi Arabia in the summer of 1948 when she responded to an advertisement by the Arabian American Oil Company (ARAMCO). In Saudi Arabia, she met John "Jack" F. Prugh and on January 4, 1950 the two were married in Sacred Heart Church on the Island of Bahrain. Her two sons, John and Mark were born in Arabia, and - like mom - soon learned to enjoy traveling. Estelle left Saudi Arabia (and was glad to escape the heat) to move to Medford, OR, when Jack retired, but that was not the end of their travels; together, they made trips to China, New Zealand, the Amazon and other ports of call. With Jack's death in 1995, Estelle moved to warm, sunny Tucson (which kind of reminded her of Saudi Arabia) to be near her sons and daughter-in-law, Peggy. Estelle who passed away on December 30, 2012, is survived by her brother, Leo Petkus and sister-in-law, Joanne of Chicago, IL; her sons, Mark and John and her daughter-in-law, Peggy all of whom reside in Tucson. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to a caring charity such as Catholic Relief Services or Mercy Corps. A private family Memorial will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Adair Funeral Homes, Dodge Chapel.
