Elizabeth "Beth" Tucker Everett and husband Richard Everett were killed in a car crash involving a falling tree during Hurricane Sandy in Mendham Township, New Jersey.

Danny Norton DH 79 writes, "I'm very sorry to report that my classmate, Beth Tucker Everett, and her husband Rich were killed on Monday evening when their car was hit by a falling tree near their home in Randolph, NJ.  They left four children.

Beth was a very bright, kind, and energetic individual.  After graduating from Dhahran she moved to Thousand Oaks, CA with her family.  She went on to get her Bachelor of Science degree at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.  She then enrolled at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she got her Ph.D. in chemistry.  Over the last twenty years, she held senior positions with major pharmaceutical companies including SmithKline Beecham, Novartis, and Organon USA.  More recently she served as a senior management consultant in the health care practices of ImpactRx, SAIC, and Carter McKenzie Select.

Beth had a strong sense of commitment to her community and was very generous with her time.  She volunteered with Habitat for Humanity since high school, and served on its board in Morris County, New Jersey.  She also served as a board member of the Healthcare Businesswoman's Association, Birthcare and Family Health Services, a center that provides pre-natal, birth, and pediatric care to low-income families, and the Life Sciences IT Global institute, among others.

Beth and Rich had four beautiful children: Zoe (19), Talia (17), Theo (14), and Pierce (11).  Together they lived a very full life, filled with kids' activities, dinners with friends, horseback riding, and travel to the Caymans and other favored destinations.

Beth often visited with lifelong friends from Dhahran including Sandy Spade and Emily Maranjian.  She attended Reunions as she could, flying in to the 2009 LA Reunion to help her sister Cissy host our class party.

While I hadn't seen Beth in the last few years, I mourn her passing.  I've lost a good friend, her children have lost a wonderful mom, and the world has lost a kind, compassionate individual who strived to make it a better place."

The Everetts' two children, ages 11 and 14, were in the rear of the vehicle, but neither suffered life-threatening injuries, officials have said.
