Edward Carlton Rhodes
Edward (Ed) Carlton Rhodes, 84, died peacefully on Sunday, December 22nd in Bend, Oregon. He was born in Manchester, NH, on June 23rd, 1929, to the late Edgar and Mary Rhodes.
Ed graduated from Loomis Chaffee High School in Windsor, CT in 1947, received a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Yale University in 1951, and received a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Harvard University in 1959.
Ed joined the army in 1955 serving for 2 years. He married his wife Yvonne in May of 1957. They lived and worked together with their family for 17 years in Saudi Arabia before retiring to Cedar Crest, NM in 1987. His interests in retirement included working for the local neighborhood association and water co-op, poker, cribbage, duplicate bridge, grandparenting, and religiously reading the Wall Street Journal.
Ed possessed an easy going personality that made everyone feel welcomed. He was outgoing, friendly and quick with the banter. Ed traveled the world and had many interesting stories to share. He will be missed by many.
Ed is preceded in death by his daughter Gaele, wife Yvonne and brother Russell. He is survived by his daughter, Robin Spring and husband, David of Oregon, son-in-law, Gary Hawks and wife, Martha of Arkansas; grandchildren, Jason, Joshua, and Sara.
Remembrance service will be held Saturday, January 11th at 2:00 p.m., at the Aspen Ridge Retirement Home Great Room, 1010 NE Purcell in Bend, Oregon 97701.
