Ed Morton, Former Aramcon, Passes Away
Edwin Edgar Morton III of Knoxville, Tennessee was born on April 25, 1941 in LaFollette, Tennessee and died at Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville on February 10, 2008 after a brief struggle with cancer. He moved to Dhahran in June of 1979 and was the Construction Manager on the Yanbu east/west NGL pipeline. He lived in Saudi Arabia through the mid-80s.
Mr. Morton is preceded in death by his parents, Reba and Ed Morton of LaFollette, Tennessee. He is survived by his son, Richard Edwin Morton and wife, Emily, of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter, Cynthia Morton Moore and husband, Chris, of Knoxville; brother, Dr. Steve Morton and wife, Cindy, of Sevierville, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Charlie and Will Morton of Atlanta, and Joshua and Neeley Moore of Knoxville; niece, Sarah Morton of Denver, Colorado and special friend, Martha Jane Weaver of Knoxville.
Mr. Morton received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He recently retired to Knoxville after career stops in Atlanta, Georgia, Midland, Texas, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, and Santa Barbara, California as a consultant and executive in the oil industry. He was founder of Morton and Associates, a leader in environmental consulting for the California coast.
