Cecil Webster Boodey Jr.

Cecil Webster "Webb" Boodey Jr., 82, of Morristown, formally of Manasquan passed away peacefully on Saturday June 15 from a battle with leukemia. Webb was born and raised in Yonkers New York and moved to Manasquan in 1967 where he raised his family.

A graduate of the University of New Hampshire (B.A.), Princeton University (post grad.), and New York University (M.A.) Webb started his work career for ARAMCO Oil Company in Dhahran Saudi Arabia for a year. He then served with the US Army for two years in El Paso Texas. Following his marriage to Phyllis Stensland he worked at New York Telephone in Westchester New York for five years.

In 1964 Webb became a professor of political science at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City retiring in 1995. Following retirement he continued as an adjunct professor for both FIT and Inner Mongolia University in Huhhot China.

His civic contributions included treasurer at the Richards Boys Club Yonkers New York, vice president of the Manasquan-Brielle little league, treasurer of the Manasquan Babe Ruth league, president Squan Soccer club, Democratic municipal chairman in Manasquan, on the board of directors Manasquan Area Human Relations Council, Trustee at Brookdale Community College Lincroft. He was a member of the American Political Science Association, Association of Asian Studies, and the Asia Society.

He is predeceased by his parents Cecil Webster and Dorothy Mitchell Boodey and wife of 49 years Phyllis Stensland Boodey.

Surviving are his wife An Ling of Morristown and Huhhot China, sister Joan and Donald Lamson of New London New Hampshire, sons Mitchell and Gretchen Boodey of Wall, Bart and Carolyn Boodey of Wrightstown Pennsylvania, daughter Pamela (Dee) and Carl Savoia of Newtown Connecticut, and six grandsons.

Flynn Funeral Home Yonkers, New York is in charge of the arrangements. Internment will be held privately.
