Bob Hansard
Sadly, Bob Hansard passed away on December 21, 2011.
The following article was published on Aramco ExPats prior to his passing:
As I am sitting here tonight in Chicago with Elisabeth, Christopher, and Noah, my heart is heavy with grief worrying about my dear Bob's imminent passing away.
Three long weeks ago, Bob suffered a stroke on the 26 of November. A fairly large bleed and edema in the right hemisphere of his brain paralyzing his left side. We were hopeful that with sub-acute rehab he would recuperate a certain amount of mobility with time. The day before he was to be transferred to a rehabilitation facility, he suffered a second stroke in the brain stem.
Bob and I discussed the possibility of such a situation and we promised each other that there would not employ any life-support therapy of any sort. Therefore, he is in palliative care and is slowly leaving this world for the ultimate kingdom. I am at peace with myself and so are Christopher, Thierry and Richard.
Today Bob was transferred to a nursing facility and it was difficult to leave all the nurses and doctors who helped him with so much compassion, and loving care. I do not think there can be a better hospital than the Adventist Hinsdale Hospital. I am so thankful that such a facility was available to us.
Please pray for Bob and our family, Annie, Christopher, Elisabeth and Noah, Thierry, Dinah and Olivia, Richard, Amanda, Gabrielle and Claire.
