Audrey Mildred Robertson
Audrey Mildred Robertson began her life journey on June 9, 1930. Born in Selkirk, Manitoba, in a family descended from the Red River Settlers, she was the eldest of Cecil and Audrey Taylor's five children.
Millie married her high school sweetheart, Bob Robertson, on July 5, 1952 and they remained sweethearts until Millie's passing. Shortly after their marriage, Bob accepted a position with Chevron on the island of Trinidad, in the West Indies. During their eight years in colonial-era Trinidad, they developed a love of travel and appreciation of diverse cultures, while cultivating friendships that would last a lifetime. It was also the birthplace of Bob and Millie's only child, Rory.
As Bob's career with Chevron advanced, the family moved to Marin County, California in 1961, where they lived until Rory graduated from high school in 1974. During this period, Millie was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, dedicating herself to rearing Rory and supporting Bob in his career.
While living in Marin, Millie honed her culinary and entertaining skills, which would prove important over the coming years. Once Rory left for college, Millie and Bob decided it was time to venture overseas again, accepting a position with the National Iranian Oil Company in Ahwaz, Iran. After three years in Ahwaz and just prior to the Iranian revolution, they returned to California.
Their next overseas assignment was with the Arabian American Oil Company in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, where they resided for five years. After 35 years with Chevron, Millie and Bob retired and moved to Fresno in 1985, where Rory and his wife Maren were living and where she would later play an active role in the lives of her grandchildren, Alex and Flynn Robertson.
Millie passed away peacefully on May 4, 2018 at Bella Vista Memory Care Community. Millie's family expresses their gratitude to the staff of Bella Vista for the care they provided to Millie. Millie is survived by her loving family, which includes her husband Bob, son Rory, daughter-in-law Maren, grandchildren Alex and Flynn Robertson, sisters Ruby Smith and Shirley Rivers, brother Brian Taylor, and many nephews and nieces.
A Memorial Service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, located at 5140 N. Fruit Ave., Fresno on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. Millie's family asks that any remembrances be directed to Optimal Hospice Care or the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
