Arthur Wheeler Moehlenbruck
Arthur Wheeler Moehlenbruck was born March 26th, 1928 in Los Angeles to Maude Wheeler and William Christian Moehlenbruck. He passed from this world on October 6th, 2014 at the age of 86. After losing his wife of 52 years Darlene in October 2008, Art continued to live a full, healthy, and active life. He played his last round of golf with good friends in April this year and traveled regularly to see family and friends. Earlier this year, Art traveled to the Hawaiian Islands and Colorado with son Jeff.
Art received his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from University of Southern California and worked for the State of California in Los Angeles, where he met and married Darlene in 1956.
In 1957, they decided to move half-way around the world to build oil refineries in Saudi Arabia with Aramco Oil Co. This pioneering decision would enrich their lives and their children's lives forever, and they would form countless close friendships that lasted their lifetimes. They raised their children as world citizens, living in Saudi Arabia, Belgium, Holland, and California over the next 25 years. Art retired from Aramco in 1985 and settled in Houston, where he continued consulting work.
He and Darlene enjoyed hosting large gatherings of family and their many good friends in Houston. He was an avid golfer and played 2-3 times a week in Texas. Art traveled the world to play at courses in Hawaii, Portugal, Scotland, Japan, and of course, Saudi Arabia.
Arthur leaves behind 3 sons, Mark, Jeff, and Mike, daughter-in-law Barbara, 3 grandchildren Wes, Derek, and Mikyla, and a great grand-daughter, Marjan. Art was dearly loved and admired by his family and friends. He lived his life with unwavering integrity, excellent humor, and grace to the end. He is deeply missed.
