Anna Theresa H. Kaupinis

10 September 1920 - 22 February 2015

Under: Obituary

West Lebanon, NH, Anna Hanchuck Kaupinis was born in Hartford, CT on September 10, 1920, the daughter of Dement and Stacia (Brodzensky) Hanchuck. She grew up in Lebanon and worked at Eastman Oil, upon graduation from Lebanon High School. Anna was always lured by the whistle of the train going through town and knew that someday she would someday be on that train to see the world. When she was 21 she left for Washington D.C. where she worked at the Pentagon during World War II. She always remembered when the war ended and everyone was dancing in the streets. She then went to work at Gulf Oil in Boston and then to Saudi Arabia to work for Saudi Aramco Oil. From there she was finally able to travel the world.

She married Algert Kaupinis of Lawrence, MA, whom she met at Gulf Oil. They moved to Houston TX when Al was transferred by Gulf and they lived there for 20 years. Anna worked at Conoco Oil and retired in 1983. After Al died Anna moved back to Lebanon to be near her sisters. She volunteered at the Grafton County Senior Center and enjoyed reconnecting with her old friends. She never tired of traveling.

Anna was predeceased by her husband and three sisters, Kathryn Perry of Hartland, VT, Genevieve Carmody and Bernice Rousseau, both of West Lebanon. She leaves behind several cousins and nieces.

Following Anna's request there will be no services. A private committal service will take place at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grafton County Senior Center, PO Box 433, Lebanon, New Hampshire 03766, or to Cedar Hill Continuing Care Community, 49 Cedar Hill Drive, Windsor, Vermont 05089.
