"Aging is not lost youth but a new stage of opportunity and strength." ~Betty Friedan
"Do not regret growing older. It’s a privilege denied to many." ~unknown
"Live your life and forget your age." ~Norman Vicente Peale
Taking inspiration from the above quotations, an association was formed by the name The Greater Hyderabad Senior Citizens Association (GHSCA) to serve society in various aspects which include helping underprivileged people.
I, Mohammed Ifteqaruddin, badge number 140948, Technical Advisor Mechanical Services, Rastanura Refinery Maintenance Department, Machine Shop Unit joined the association as Joint Secretary back in the year 2016 post-retirement.
On October 25, 2020, an Executive Body Meeting of the GHSCA was called; Its a very pleasant moment for GHSCA members to meet after six months. By the Grace of God, everyone was in good health.
Right to Left, Mir Masud Ali, third Mohammed Ifteqaruddin, fifth Mir Azmath Ali and last at the end, Dr. AnJana Surath
Mr. Khaja Qutubuddin Qureshi, General Secretary of the association presented the report.
The meeting took place at the residence of GHSC Association's President, Mr. Mir Azmath Ali who also arranged a healthy and delicious lunch for the attendees.
Mir Masud Ali, an ex-Aramcon, badge number 140990, also attended the meeting as Vice President of the association.
In the month of October 2020 due to continuous heavy rains, some parts of the city flooded. To overcome the disastrous situation, GHSCA extended a helping hand financially and provided rice, household items, clothes, and blankets
Overall, the meeting was informative and provided a chance to socialize with like-minded people. All attendees enjoyed the wonderful session and left the venue with smiles on their faces.
Apart from GHSCA membership, I have a life membership with the All India Senior Citizen Confederation (AISCCON).
I would like to suggest to our global senior citizens - become members and participate in their respective communities; it provides a healthy platform for networking as well as to help needy people.
I feel the following message should reach the youth, for them to benefit:
“If a young man Honours an older person on account of his age, God appoints someone to show reverence to him in his old age.”
The meeting then concluded with note of thanks.
