First LPG Tanker Loads at Yanbu’
The first shipment of liquefied petroleum gas from Saudi Arabia’s Western Province is on its way to customers in Italy after being loaded this week by Aramco aboard the tanker Cavendish at their new export terminal Yanbu’ for natural gas liquids (NGL).
Sailing under the British flag, the ship was nominated to take on approximately 105,000 barrels of butane and 190,000 barrels of propane produced by the NGL Fractionation Plant at Yanbu’ Industrial City. The first lifting came just 10 weeks after Aramco started up the plant, which also is producing natural gasoline export and ethane for local industrial consumption.
The opening of the NGL Export Terminal at Yanbu’ is bound to enhance the Red Sea outlet as an important port of call for hydrocarbon carriers headed for Western markets. At the same time, it helps fulfill the Kingdom’s goal of more evenly developing its industrial and marine facilities throughout the country.

AOC Celebrates 60th Anniversary
In the Aramco constellation, one star shines in the north. It’s called Aramco Overseas Co. B.V. (AOC). Sixty years ago, the company was founded in the Netherlands, and ever since, AOC has been growing, maturing, and supporting Aramco in supplying energy to the world.
On Sept. 21, AOC celebrated its 60th birthday with its employees at The World Forum Center in The Hague. Saudi Aramco president and CEO Khalid A. Al-Falih attended the celebration personally to thank AOCers for their contributions and dedication to Aramco over the past six decades.
“AOC will continue to provide Aramco optimal services and utilize our geographic and network advantage to leverage pockets of expertise in our area,” said AOC managing director Nabil Aldabal. “Our region is a center of knowledge, and we at AOC are ideally placed to find solutions to Aramco’s ambitious forward-looking plan.”
