Former Aramcon Iro Smith was chosen and included in the book by Mary Rissaki, Greek Women of the World, which features 151 successful Greek women who thrive outside and inside Greece. As the writer is a Greek Canadian author and independent publisher from the island of Crete, she chose to launch the book in Heraklion, Crete on May 9, 2023. Iro was invited to be a special guest speaker to honor and recognize the women of Crete.

A Gala event honoring all the "Greek Women of the World" was held on July 27, 2023 at the prestigious Zappeion Megaron in Athens, Greece.

Iro along with her husband Ron joined Saudi Aramco in May 1982 and left the company in June 2008 when they moved to Bahrain to continue working in the region.

Iro is a Professional Medical Aesthetician who specializes in permanent make-up. Along with her work at Aramco in the Materials Supply Department, she also practiced her profession of aesthetics, becoming familiar and known throughout the region of Eastern Arabia and Saudi Arabia. Iro eventually started her own business in Permanent Make-up as IRO SMITH "WAKE UP WITH MAKE-UP". Traveling throughout Arabia from Dhahran, Al Khobar and Dammam, to Riyadh and Jeddah, she applied permanent make-up for the Aramco women, princesses, wives and daughters of the Royal families, while teaching her technique at the largest beauty salons to doctors, dermatologists and plastic surgeons in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Greece.

Iro also appeared in several Saudi TV Channel 2 talk shows about her aesthetics field and founded the first Permanent Make-Up clinic in Dubai in 1998. A pioneer in her field, she was the first ever in the Middle East to be licensed by the Ministry of Health and still maintains her license and clients throughout the Middle East. Iro also holds her clinic in Greece and India. Iro's greatest achievement is the vast number of thank you notes and letters from her international worldwide clientele.

Saudi Ambassador to Greece

Her great love for the culture of her mother country Greece and her adopted country Saudi Arabia - which Iro considers: MY HOME, MY SOUL, MY COUNTRY - prompted her to promote Greek cultural events in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, thus becoming an informal ambassador of Hellenism in the Arab World.

As a gesture of his appreciation for her contributions to the Kingdom, the Saudi Ambassador to Greece honored her with his presence at the Gala along with her dear friend Sheikha Thoraya from Dubai. Christine, their artist daughter, was also present to honor her mother throughout this prestigious event.
