Mohammed Ifteqaruddin (Badge #140948), a retired employee from the Ras Tanura Refinery Maintenance Department, visited the Hyderabad Literary Festival from January 25-27, 2019.
Mohammed writes:
I have visited the venue of Hyderabad Literary Festival 2019; the ninth edition of the festival in the historic premises of the Hyderabad Public School, a heritage property in the heart of the city.
The Hyderabad Literary Festival (HLF) is a prestigious international event organised every year in the month of January. The festival began in the year 2010.
The main objective of the festival is to promote the brand image of Hyderabad as a city of creative energies. The festival not only gathers local, national and global writers on the same platform but also acts as a bridge between writers and readers; artists and audiences on the one hand and aspiring writers and publishers on the other.
HLF has several unique features; each year HLF invites a foreign country to showcase its literature, art and culture. China is the Guest Nation at HLF 2019. Each edition of HLF also pays special attention to one Indian language, at HLF 2019 Gujarati is the language in focus.
HLF does not charge any entry or registration fee, and all the following events are free and open to all:
- Literary sessions
- Cultural programmes
- Workshops
- Exhibitions
- Book launches
- Panel discussions
- Children's drawing competition
- Music and dance
In the year 2018, fifteen thousand visitors attended.
An additional attraction was a visit from the Bollywood actress, Shabana Azmi. She addressed the audience in spite of rainy weather.
In the end, I recommend you all plan to attend the HLF in the year 2020.
