Former Aramcons, Edgar and Brenda Dewar lived and worked in Arabia from October 1981 until July 1986. Edgar worked for Aramco as a chemical engineer, corrosion specialist, out of Udhailiyah and Mubarraz. Brenda taught in the Udhailiyah Schools for one year. She transferred to Jobs Skills Training where she taught math and science. Before leaving Arabia, Brenda also scheduled appointments at the Udhailiyah Dental Clinic.
Brenda and Edgar’s two sons, Ian and Bruce, both attended Udhailiyah Schools. Ian finished the 9th grade and Bruce the 8th grade in 1986 before the family headed for Indonesia. After leaving Aramco, Ed started working for ARCO and Brenda taught at the Jakarta International School where both Ian and Bruce graduated from high school.
The Dewar’s returned to Prince Edward Island in 1994 where they “retired” running their Roseneath Bed and Breakfast. Roseneath B& B is the home where Ed was raised. They are now the third generation in the house and the gardens have become a specialty. Many people come to Roseneath for a tour of the garden!
Since PEI attracts tourists only in the summer months, Brenda and Edgar travel extensively, sometimes visiting other ex-Aramcons. Brenda is also involved in choirs and Ed does volunteer museum work.
You can visit the Roseneath Bed and Breakfast website, Roseneath Bed and Breakfast.
