Engr. Iqbal Khan & Dr. Kiran A. Rehman in the bus on the way to the beach
The students and staff of Hamdard College of Medicine & Dentistry, Hamdard University Karachi have been planning for a sea side picnic from the beginning of the year 2016. Finally the day was fixed for Saturday June 04, 2016 and the venue was Sonehri Beach. All the arrangements were made by the organizing committee, comparing of faculty members and students. Dr. Ata Ur Rehman and Dr. Kiran A. Rehman were also members of the organizing committee and invited Engr. Iqbal Ahmed Khan join this college activity as an observer and a mentor.
The transport buses were arranged from the Hamdard University Hostels and the city campus. Eight buses carrying about 350 plus joyful youth reached the far destination at 10.30 AM. Breakfast comprising of Halwa Puri Cholay and Tea was served on arrival. After the breakfast all the people rushed to the shore for games and swimming. Some staff members had brought their families as well, who were also enjoying every sport in sea.
Students enjoyed boating, speed boating and water speed bikes. Everyone was having fun with foot ball, water ball and swimming. Musical band was playing music for every ones choice. Students performed folk dances from Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, Sindh and Baluchistan on the beat of drums. It was observed that despite being a loud group of young students enjoying all the festivities, belonging to all parts of Pakistan and abroad, the youngsters were very well behaved, organized and follow their teachers instructions in all conditions.
Lunch was prepared on venue consisting of Biryani, Gola Kababs, Chicken Boti and Parathas along with cold drinks and desserts. The Senior Staff was served on tables while the rest enjoyed a buffet style service, served steaming hot directly from the BBQ trays. It was fun n entertainment all the way.
At 4 PM Dr. Ata Ur Rehman announced the pack up call, despite protest to stay some more time by the students, the vans left the beach in next half hour and a beautiful day of fun, games and joy came to an end.
