Bassam M. Asiri has been appointed Controller with the company’s Finance, Strategy and Development organization, effective April 1, 2022.
He had previously served as assistant controller since January 2018. Prior to that assignment, Asiri was acting general manager of Transaction Development with New Business Development — a position he assumed in June 2017.
Asiri has completed several leadership assignments with the company, including manager — Planning & Performance Management in Finance, Strategy & Development.
He joined the company in October 1995 after earning a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.
In the first 15 years of his career with Aramco, Asiri progressed through the engineering job ladder in Maintenance and Operations organizations, taking on technical and leadership roles in Upstream and Downstream oil and gas production, as well as in processing plants.
In March 2009, Asiri joined the Southern Area Oil Operations Planning & Technical Staff as assistant to the executive head following a number of acting assignments in that organization. He was made general supervisor with the Abqaiq Plants Operations Engineering Division, superintendent Oil Operations and Oil Maintenance divisions in Abqaiq Plant, and subsequently, superintendent of oil operations with Abqaiq Producing until February 2013.
During that time, Asiri had a series of acting assignments within the Finance function and was transferred to the Controller’s organization on completion of his assignment with Southern Area Oil Operations.
Asiri earned an MBA from the University of Southern Queensland, and completed the Executive Management Program from the Insead Business School, in Fontainebleau, France.
