Ashraf A. Al Ghazzawi has been appointed executive vice president of Strategy and Corporate Development effective April 1, 2023. Prior to this he had served in the same role in an acting capacity.
In April 2022, Al Ghazzawi had been appointed senior vice president of Strategy & Market Analysis, following his assignment as executive director in the same role since July 2021.
Prior to joining Strategy & Market Analysis, Al Ghazzawi was treasurer since January 2020.
He began his career with Aramco in 1995 at the Riyadh Refinery, where he worked at various engineering and operations organizations in the refinery organization.
In 2001, Al Ghazzawi moved to the Process & Control Systems Department where he assumed various
supervisory and division head positions. In 2012, Al Ghazzawi became the manager of Aramco’s Research & Development Center.
Between the years 2014 and 2018, he returned to Technical Services as manager of the Consulting Services Department, manager of the Process & Control Systems Department, and manager of the Facilities Planning Department.
In March 2018, Al Ghazzawi moved to Finance, Strategy & Development as the general manager of the Planning Budgeting & Performance Management organization where he played a leading role in the development of Saudi Aramco’s IPO, as well as Aramco’s inaugural corporate bond program that represented the company’s first ever entrance to debt capital markets.
Al Ghazzawi is the chairman of the Board for both the Saudi Aramco Entrepreneurship Company Limited (Wa’ed), and the Saudi Aramco Development Company (Mukamala). He is also a Board director in Aramco Ventures, the Sadara Chemicals Company, and Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH).
Al Ghazzawi holds a Ph.D. degree in Engineering from the University of Manchester in the U.K., and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Program for Leadership Development.
