Aramco’s Project Management (PM) recently won four international awards at the 2022 Construction Innovation Awards (CIA) ceremony — an event to celebrate excellence in the construction industry.
Held on Oct. 28 in Dubai, the event recognized Aramco for Sustainable Project of the Year, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Initiative of the Year, Best Innovative Project of the Year, and Project Engineer of the Year. The four awards are a testament to Aramco’s commitment to excellence in project execution and people development, and raises our reputation further throughout the GCC region and beyond.
Aramco’s CIA Awards at a Glance
Sustainable Project of the Year: King Salman Energy Park (SPARK)
SPARK is the first industrial city to receive Silver Level accreditation for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. It pioneers multiple cutting-edge technologies to protect the environment and support communities, with environment, social and governance excellence at its core. Specific innovation includes the use of local recycled fine waste material, and the pioneering use of glass fiber reinforced polymer.
HSE Initiative of the Year: Advanced Safety Training Center
The Advanced Training Centers are safety training hubs, equipped with cutting-edge smart safety solutions, that provide a two-stage safety training program, which consists of on-the-job classroom-based training, and a virtual experience. An “Experience Zone” enables participants to engage in “real life” safety scenarios, utilizing advanced technologies.
The establishment of PM Safety Hubs will promote contractors’ greater compliance and awareness of Aramco safety standards, reduce safety-related incidents, and contribute to overall contractor safety performance. Moving forward, the involvement of HSE partners will be a key component of success, given the high-level training they provide.
Best Innovative Project of the Year: King Salman Energy Park — Dry Port
The King Salman Energy Park — Dry Port project deployed multiple innovative solutions to promote digital transformation, including: Building information modeling for 3D visualization; enterprise PM to track documentation; and the establishment of a project control center to monitor and control security, safety, equipment, and work progress.
The project will introduce solutions such as smart inbound screening facilities — an automotive approach to facilitate customs procedures — as well as remote control rubber tire gantry cranes to operate container stacking.
Engineer of the Year Award
May K. Al-Dossary was recognized as the engineer demonstrating the greatest organizational impact during the previous 12 months. The award was open to all engineers operating with the GCC region.
