“To find man’s true character, play Golf with him.” — P.G. Wodehouse
Embarking on a golfing expedition with my beloved grandfather Mohammed Ifteqaruddin, Badge #140948, Technical Advisor Mechanical Services, Ras Tanura Refinery, and sister Zainab was an adventure filled with excitement and discovery. Having recently acquired a membership to the world of golf, I was bubbling with enthusiasm at the prospect of exploring this new sporting realm.
Upon our arrival at the Hyderabad Golf Club located in Golconda, Hyderabad, India; I was awestruck by the sprawling landscape that unfolded before us. There was emerald green grass, stretching as far as the eye could see. The air was fresh with the earthy fragrance of freshly cut grass.
Excited to learn more about golf, we took a casual walk around the big golf course. Tall nets surrounded the area, like guards protecting us from stray golf balls, making us feel safe as we explored.
Our first stop was the pro shop, a cool store with lots of golf stuff. We got the gear we needed for our golf adventure from the shelves filled with clubs, balls, and accessories. With a bucket full of golf balls, we headed to the practice area, ready to try out our new equipment.
Feeling super excited, I held a golf club and nervously walked up to the practice simulator. With each swing, the loud sound of the club hitting the ball filled the air, marking the start of my golfing adventure. Even though my first tries had different levels of success, I kept going, determined and encouraged by my siblings who were there with me.
As the day passed, we used up most of our golf balls, we sadly headed towards the exit. But, the fun wasn't over yet! A shiny golf cart caught our attention, tempting us with an exciting ride before leaving the golf course. With laughter filling the air and the wind playing with our hair, we started a happy journey across the green fields.

Before departing, we paused to refuel at a nearby canteen, where a modest selection of refreshments awaited us. Though simple, they provided a welcome respite from our tiring efforts. Savoring the warmth of a steaming cup of coffee, we exchanged stories and laughter, basking in the joy of a day spent golfing.
As we sadly said goodbye to the golf course and headed home, I thought about all the great memories we made together. From the excitement of learning new things to the joy of laughing and being with family, this day showed how sports can be really special.
Even though our time on the golf course was over, the lessons we learned and the memories we made will stick with us. We left with thankful hearts and excitement for future adventures. As we left the golf course, we knew this was just the beginning of our golf journey.
