A 250-ton crude stabilizer column was safely and successfully installed recently at Aramco’s Abu Ali plant as part of a 500,000 barrel of oil per day (bpd) new Central Processing Facility. The 50-meter high column is designed to process 300,000 (bpd) of Arabian Light Crude oil.
Berri Increment Processing Facilities Projects Division manager Faisal I. Al-Dossary said the achievement was a result of close cooperation between Aramco’s Project Management, the Royal Commission of Jubail, and designated government agencies.
The column was fabricated at Al Zamil Heavy Industries Ltd., Rabigh, and shipped via sea to King Fahd Industrial Port in Jubail. A rigorously planned five-day journey from the port to the construction site at Abu Ali island followed. Upon arrival, the column was lifted and installed safely using 750- and 300-ton crawling cranes.
