    • STEAM Camps: Salem students lead summer camps that teach and inspire the next generation of girls in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.

An Inclusive Community
Students repeatedly cite Salem’s community as one of its best traits, often describing it “judgement free,” “family-like,” or “like a second home.” Salem Academy provides a safe and welcoming community, one where girls are free to explore new ideas and opportunities.

Students are guided by an Honor Code which instills self-responsibility and mutual respect, the pillars of community life at Salem Academy.

All students, whether boarding or day, quickly find their place in our diverse community. Salem’s student body is 25% international and includes students from China, Dominica, Germany, Jamaica, Moldova, Nigeria, Taiwan, and Turkey.

Boarding students live in four dormitories with House Counselors, a mix of older and younger women who live on each floor. All House Counselors are members of the Residential Life Staff under the direction of the Dean of Students. A Senior Prefect also lives on each hall and is available as a support to her hallmates and the House Counselor.

Student life at Salem Academy is rich in friendships, fun, and personal growth. Students engage in a variety of activities and events, including the arts, athletics, leadership development, community service, travel, and more.

Salem’s 29 Student Clubs & Organizations provide ample opportunity for participation and leadership. Popular clubs include Model UN, Ecology Club, Student Government Association, Black Student Union, Robotics, Diversity Club, and Girl Up.

Athletics : The Salem Sabers participate in the Triad Athletic Conference of the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association. Students train and play in our Athletic Complex & Fitness Center with a gymnasium, indoor pool, dance studio, fields, and tennis courts.
