Joseph Leonard Norrell

Joseph (Joe) Norrell, 72, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, January 31, 2019. Born in Lake Village, Arkansas and raised in Eudora, Arkansas, Joe went to the University of Arkansas where he obtained his Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree. A consummate and licensed Professional Engineer, Joe’s work took him from a US arsenal facility to Saudi Arabia for many years with ARAMCO, before he relocated to Sugar Land, Texas with the same company. Joe received a Lifetime Achievement in Mechanical Engineering award from the University of Arkansas, in recognition of his professional accomplishments. A diehard Arkansas Razorbacks fan, Joe loved to bass fish and was always quick with a story of a recent fishing trip.

Joe was preceded in death by his first wife, May Gene Norrell, and his father, James (Dick) Norrell. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Norrell, his mother Doris Norrell, his son Jeffery Norrell and wife Aimee, his daughter Meredith Bland, her husband James, and their children Maia and Rhys, and his son Rick Rinehart, his wife Carmen, and their sons Thomas and Patrick.

A memorial will be held at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Greatwood Recreation Center 1, 7225 Greatwood Parkway, Sugar Land, TX, with the family greeting friends starting at 5:00 pm.

The Norrell family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all of the love and support Joe’s friends brought him over these past months. Flowers can be sent for Joe to the Settegast-Kopf Co at Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, TX 77478. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Joe’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
