Johney (John) Dwight Poore

Johney (John) Dwight Poore set out upon this world on July 30, 1943 near Winchester, Tennessee, and came home on December 26, 2017 in DeLand, FL with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife (of 49 years) Patricia, his children Jeniene Pulice (Cory Pulice) and Timothy Poore (Kathryn Poore), and three grandchildren Jordan and Megan Pulice and Parker Poore, as well as his brother Paul Poore (Mimi Poore) and his sister Fredda Bishop (d Bill Bishop). And is met in Heaven with his son John Fredric Poore, his sister Patti Sue Poore, and his parents Fred and Louannia Poore.

John was no stranger to work. He started working at a young age and also served in the Army Reserve. Eventually, he settled in on being a land surveyor. It was while being a land surveyor and after moving to South Florida that he met his future wife Patricia.

John and Patricia's lives first changed after the birth of Jeniene, and then shortly thereafter they decided to move from South Florida to Volusia County. John began working with Deltona Corp and was a supervisor for over 10 years. He then worked in Saudi Arabia for Aramco for 2 years. Once he returned to the United States, he opened his own business, Atlantic Surveying in DeLand, in the late 80's.

John was a courageous provider. He was never afraid of hard work and he was also ready to help anyone in need. John had an incredibly generous heart, for both people and animals. He will be remembered as an honest, loving, and hardworking husband, father, and man and will be missed dearly.

A Memorial Service will be held at Lankford Funeral Home on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. Donations in John Poore's name can be made to Animal Rescue Konsortium Inc.
