John L. Zalar, 43, died Monday night in the Dhahran Health Center after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at the Dhahran Theater this morning at 10 a.m.

A native of Ohio, Zalar received his bachelor of science degree in education from Ohio State University at Columbus in 1948. Following graduation he taught school for several years, then joined the Industrial Rayon Corporation in Painesville, Ohio as training supervisor.

He was employed by Aramco in January, 1958 as a vocational training analyst. In May, 1961, he was made principal of the Dhahran Industrial Training Center and in 1962 his position became trainer, Management Training. He was promoted to superintendent of the Training Division, Dhahran District Industrial Relations Department, on Aug. 25 of this year.

Zalar is survived by his wife, Vernetta, and three children, Jeanne Louise, who attends school at Marymount in Rome, John Vernon, age 7, and Joan, 5. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Zalar, Sr., live at 833 North St. Clair Street, Painesville, Ohio. [Photograph]
