Jeanette Newell Watkins
Jeanette Newell Watkins, 78, passed away October 11, 2017. She was born July 16, 1940, to Mildred B. and L.C. Newell, Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Watkins, and her father, L.C. Newell, Sr.
Jeanette is survived by her son, Wade (Tami) Watkins; daughter Melanie (Teddy) Torres; mother, Mildred Newell; siblings, Lexine (Shelton) Yocom, L.C. Newell, Jr., Carolyn (John) Fletcher, James (Roberta) Newell; grandchildren, David (Rachael) Thibodaux, Kaitlyn, Thomas, and Hailey Torres.
Friend and former co-worker, Sandra Mauldin, shares the following in memory of Jeanette,
Jenny and I worked together in Dhahran for many years. She and her husband, Russell, came either in late 1980 or early 1981 and stayed until the mid 90’s. She worked in the Dhahran Schools, first as secretary for the principal, Jess Arceneaux, at what was then the Jr. High and then later in Central Office as Secretary to the Superintendent. Jenny was known for her wonderful sense of humor, love of life and family, and love of God.
