SPE President-Elect Puts Focus on Sustainability Contributions
As president-elect of SPE, Saudi Aramco’s
Sami Al-Neaim wants to promote the oil
and gas industry’s efforts on corporate
social responsibility, especially to the
younger generation.

The newly nominated president of the Society of Petroleum Engineers International (SPE Inc.), Saudi Aramco’s Sami Al-Neaim, has pledged to better promote the industry’s positive achievements on the world stage.

Al-Neaim said that he was honored to be elected as SPE 2019 president. He wants to leverage the association to show how the efforts and investments the industry is making in social responsibility programs, education sector, in the social sector, and on the environmental arena.

“There are good examples of the oil and gas industry considering the environment, such as the wildlife sanctuary at Shaybah and the work done for Manifa marine life,” he noted.

Al-Neaim said such examples of environmental stewardship should be highlighted to a global audience and that the industry should better showcase its efforts toward greener and cleaner energy sources.

Who is Sami Al-Neaim?

Sami Al-Neaim has been with Saudi Aramco for 30 years, working in reservoir engineering, production engineering, research and development, and the Upstream Computer Center. In his present role with the company, he is responsible for technical information technology support to all Upstream operations, including exploration, drilling, production, reservoir engineering and facility design.

Al-Neaim has also published a number of technical papers, holds several patents related to well performance, and teaches petroleum engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.
