William Alfred Rome
William (Bill) Alfred Rome died January 16th, 2024 at the age of 98. He passed peacefully at home under hospice care surrounded by family in Las Vegas, Nevada where he had lived since retiring from Aramco in 1988. Bill was born the son of Edward and Vera Rome February 1st, 1925 in Memphis, Tenn. At the ripe age of 17 he enlisted in the navy and served his country in World War II . Following his service he returned to the USA and attended college obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Denver in 1951.
Bill’s adventures led him to multiple states for employment including, Delaware, Missouri, Colorado, Arizona, Montana, and Texas. Apart from working internationally in Saudi (Ras Tanura) 1978-1988, he was also employed in Venezuela and Scotland. In his free time Bill most enjoyed golfing , spending virtually every weekend at the Surf Side golf course while in RT. Throughout his golfing years he achieved 4 holes in one. In fact, Bill chose Las Vegas as his forever home as he knew he could golf there everyday.
Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years Kay, his son James Rome of Larwrence, Kansas, daughter Linnea Lei of Flagstaff, Arizona , son Anthony Rome of Eagle, Idaho, daughter Melissa Asaro of Fairland, Oklahoma , daughter Lacey Arias of Las Vegas, Nevada., 8 grandchildren, and 1 great grandson. Bill’s ashes will be interred in Pennsylvania with Kay’s when she passes
